Greater Burnet

Greater burnet is a plant that grows in Europe and Asia. The flowering parts and roots are used to make medicine.

Greater burnet is used for diarrhea, menstrual problems such as hot flashes, burns and skin wounds, and other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Some research suggests that greater burnet might work as a drying agent (astringent) to help stop bleeding. Some ingredients in greater burnet might also help reduce wrinkles and improve wound healing.

When taken by mouth: There isn't enough reliable information to know if greater burnet is safe or what the side effects might be.

When applied to the skin: Greater burnet dried root extract is POSSIBLY SAFE when applied on the skin as a lotion for up to 8 weeks. No side effects have been reported.
